Muscular
Muscular, from a medical perspective, relates to the muscles, which are a group of fibrous tissues that have the ability to contract, providing motion and maintaining posture in the body. There are three types of muscle tissue found in the human body: skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscle. Skeletal muscles are under voluntary control and are responsible for movements of the skeletal system, cardiac muscle is found exclusively in the heart and is involved in pumping blood, while smooth muscle is found in the walls of internal organs and blood vessels and is not under voluntary control.
Muscles are susceptible to a variety of conditions that can affect their function and structure. These include muscular dystrophy, a group of inherited disorders characterized by progressive muscle weakness and degeneration; muscle strains or sprains resulting from overstretching or tearing; inflammatory myopathies like polymyositis and dermatomyositis; and muscular atrophy, which involves a decrease in muscle mass due to disuse or neurological conditions. Effective functioning of muscles is essential for overall health, and thus, disorders affecting the muscular system can significantly impact a person's quality of life and require medical intervention to manage symptoms and improve functionality.
