Headache

A headache is a common condition characterized by pain or discomfort in the head, scalp, or neck. Medically, headaches are classified into primary headaches, such as tension-type headaches, migraines, and cluster headaches, and secondary headaches, which result from other medical conditions like sinusitis, head injury, or vascular disorders. Primary headaches are benign, recurrent, and not caused by underlying diseases. They arise from problems with pain-sensitive structures in the head, like blood vessels, muscles, and nerves, or from the overactivity of chemical activity in the brain.

Treatment and management of headaches depend on the type and cause. Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen are commonly used, while prescription medications, lifestyle changes, and alternative therapies may be recommended for more severe or chronic cases. It's essential for individuals to seek medical attention when headaches are sudden and severe, accompanied by neurological symptoms, or are a result of an injury, as these could indicate more serious conditions that require immediate intervention.
